Chemical Peels

Professional Chemical Peels in Huntingdon Valley, PA

Clinical exfoliation treatments for acne, hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, and anti-aging — matched to your skin and your goals.

A chemical peel is one of the most effective tools in professional skincare — but only when the right peel is selected for the right skin. At SkinArt Aesthetics, we work with GlyMed+, Circadia, and Face Reality professional formulations, including the biostimulating BioRePeel. Your peel is chosen based on your skin type, current concerns, and tolerance — not a fixed menu.

Chemical Peel Options

BioRePeel® No Visible Peeling ยท All-Season

$19560 min

BioRePeel is a biostimulating, no-peel chemical peel that combines TCA with amino acids, vitamins, and GABA to exfoliate, stimulate collagen, and improve skin tone — all with little to no visible peeling. Safe for most skin types year-round, including summer, when stronger peels carry more risk.

Best for: Texture, mild hyperpigmentation, dull skin, acne-prone skin, all seasons

GlyMed+ Professional Peel

From $16060 min

GlyMed+ professional peels use glycolic acid and complimentary actives to resurface the skin, improve cell turnover, and address pigmentation and texture. Strength is adjusted based on your skin’s tolerance and prior peel history. Expect 2–5 days of mild flaking.

Best for: Uneven skin tone, texture, dullness, anti-aging

Circadia SWICH™ Peel

From $17560 min

The SWICH™ system from Circadia is a vitamin C and antioxidant-forward peel protocol designed for brightening and skin health support. Particularly effective for addressing photodamage, mild discoloration, and uneven tone with a gentler profile than acid-only peels.

Best for: Brightening, photodamage, sensitive skin with pigmentation concerns

Face Reality Acne Peel

From $16060 min

Formulated specifically for acne-prone skin, this salicylic-based protocol exfoliates inside the pore lining, reduces congestion, and helps with post-breakout discoloration — without triggering additional inflammation. Part of a structured acne treatment plan.

Best for: Acne-prone skin, blackheads, post-acne marks

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a controlled exfoliation treatment in which a professional-grade acid or exfoliating compound is applied to the skin and left to work for a specified time before being neutralized or removed. The exfoliation triggers the skin’s natural renewal process — shedding damaged surface cells and stimulating new, healthier skin underneath.

Depending on the formula and strength, peels can target surface-level texture and tone or work more deeply to address pigmentation, acne scars, and early signs of aging. The depth and type of peel used at SkinArt Aesthetics are always chosen based on your skin’s condition and your specific goals.

What Chemical Peels Can Treat

Professional chemical peels at SkinArt Aesthetics can address a range of concerns including: uneven skin tone and texture, post-acne marks and hyperpigmentation, early fine lines and mild photodamage, active congestion and acne-prone skin, dullness and lack of radiance, and enlarged-looking pores. A skin assessment at your consultation will determine which peel type is most appropriate for your concerns.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Most skin types can benefit from a chemical peel when the right formulation is selected. We take a conservative approach — we would rather start with a milder peel and build from there than cause sensitivity or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation by being too aggressive.

Chemical peels may not be appropriate if you are currently using prescription retinoids (you may need to pause before a peel), are pregnant or nursing (some acids are contraindicated), have active rosacea or severe inflammatory acne, or have received laser, filler, or other injectable treatments very recently. We review your medical history, current products, and any contraindications at every consultation before proceeding.

What to Expect During Your Peel

Your appointment begins with a cleanse and skin prep to ensure the peel contacts the skin evenly. The peel solution is applied carefully, monitored for timing, and removed or neutralized at the appropriate point. You may feel mild tingling or warmth during the treatment — this is normal and typically brief. The appointment concludes with a calming serum and SPF.

Most professional peels at SkinArt take 45–60 minutes total from start to finish. You should plan to go home and rest your skin rather than heading out to activities where you’ll be in direct sun or sweating.

Recovery and Downtime

Recovery depends on the peel type and your skin’s response:

  • BioRePeel and gentle peels: Minimal to no visible peeling. Skin may appear slightly flushed for 12–24 hours. Most clients return to normal activity the same day.
  • Mid-strength peels (GlyMed+, Circadia SWICH): Light flaking typically begins on Day 2–3 and may last through Day 5. Avoid picking or pulling at peeling skin.
  • Acne or salicylic peels: Mild tightness and some flaking in congested areas, usually resolving within 3–5 days.

Throughout recovery, keep skin simple: gentle cleanser, soothing moisturizer, and SPF 30 or higher every morning. Avoid active ingredients (retinoids, acids), exfoliating scrubs, and sun exposure until peeling is complete. Full aftercare guidance is on our Post Care page.

How Often Should You Get a Chemical Peel?

The ideal frequency depends on the peel and your skin goals. For a series targeting acne or hyperpigmentation, peels may be spaced 2–4 weeks apart. For skin maintenance, once a month or every 6–8 weeks is typical. We structure your treatment plan at your consultation and adjust as your skin responds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I peel visibly after every chemical peel?

Not necessarily. Peel depth and your individual skin determine how much visible flaking occurs. BioRePeel and gentler formulations often cause little to no visible peeling. Mid-strength peels typically produce light flaking on days 2–5. We’ll tell you exactly what to expect based on the peel selected for your appointment.

Can I get a chemical peel in summer?

Some peels are not recommended in summer because sun sensitivity increases during recovery. BioRePeel was specifically designed to be safe year-round, including summer, with minimal photosensitivity. For other peel types, we schedule accordingly and ensure you’re using daily SPF. We’ll discuss timing and sun safety at your consultation.

How many chemical peels do I need to see results?

Some clients notice improvement after a single peel, but the most significant and lasting changes come from a series. For hyperpigmentation, acne, or texture concerns, we typically recommend a course of 4–6 peels spaced appropriately. The 15% series discount makes this more accessible.

Is a chemical peel safe for darker skin tones?

Chemical peels can be used safely on deeper skin tones, but the choice of acid, strength, and protocol is especially important. Certain acids carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin. We take a careful, conservative approach and are experienced in selecting appropriate formulations for a range of skin tones. We discuss this fully at your consultation.

Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?

Some treatment combinations are appropriate and can enhance results — for example, pairing a peel with a corrective facial. Others, like combining a peel with microneedling or certain laser treatments, require careful spacing. We map out your treatment plan holistically at your consultation to sequence services safely.

Find your right peel.

Every chemical peel at SkinArt Aesthetics starts with a skin assessment so the right formula is chosen for your skin — not a generic option from a fixed menu. Book a consultation to get started.
